In many companies, employees develop their own applications (EUDAs or End-User Developed Applications) often using standard office software (Excel, Access, etc.) and often without reference to the IT department. These applications, while generally very useful in the day to day operations of the company, are not subject to any control. They may become the source of errors and unreliable data. Generally they are not documented and do not comply with standard programming codes.
